Yesterday in Primary music time, I was teaching the third
verse of “If I listen with my heart”:
I feel the Holy
Spirit as He teaches truth and right.
He comforts me in
times of need; He testifies of Christ.
He speaks to me in quiet ways that fill my soul with peace.
And if I listen with my heart, I hear the Savior’s voice.
I had planned to
bear my testimony of when the Spirit had helped me, and had some ideas about
which experience to tell about. When the time came, I told about when Emily had
been set apart as a missionary, but was still at home. She had some more
errands to run before she left for Salt Lake City, and we had kind of decided
that she didn’t need a companion until she went into the MTC. That night, I
woke up from a sound sleep with a message burned into my heart: “Emily needs a
full time companion. She is going to be such a great missionary that Satan will
be looking for ways to stop her.”
OK. Got it.
When I told this story in Primary yesterday, I was taken by
surprise at the “heat” of the burning within me as I related the story. I know
the Holy Ghost wanted this account told; I’m not sure if it was for me, or for
someone in the room. The children and teachers got very quiet, and I could tell
they were feeling something too. I didn’t think of it at the time, but a couple
of minutes later, I told the children that I had felt the Holy Ghost’s presence
very strongly, and that maybe they did
too.
I love moments like this!!!!
